After 25 years of providing live, professional entertainment here in the community, Craven County Concerts, Inc., sets out this season on its second quarter century.  The programs we have brought to you through the years have covered a broad spectrum of the entertainment world, everything from comedy to opera, with all stops in between. And there’s more of the same just ahead.

Does the community respond to this potpourri of entertainment? Well, just about every concert series has been sold out for years, including the “extra” programs highlighted by Asheville Lyric Opera’s 2006 performance Puccini’s Madama Butterfly and their 2007 performance of La Traviata.

Our outreach efforts have also provided hundreds of Craven County students with in-school

performances of these popular operas to foster their appreciation for the performing arts, providing them with concert-going experiences as part of their curricula.

In 2008, we presented Opera Carolina’s “Opera Express” to more than 1,200 County 3rd Graders. This program will be expanded to even more schools during the 2009-2010 season. It’s never too early to start this music exposure.

The Craven Concerts board of directors maintains contacts with theatrical agents and the North Carolina Arts Council, and begins auditioning and selecting productions over a year in advance of performances. Our goal is to provide a diverse program of top professional performers each season. All at a subscription price impossible in larger venues and even in most markets of similar size.
